Try Before You Buy

For many people, Rent To Buy is still a new concept, so Mark and I were pleased to read this article about the rise in people who are purchasing properties with Rent To Buy (click on the article to read more).

The article goes on to say that some see it as a way to “try before they buy” and test run the property whilst other buyers use the scheme to help them save for the deposit – this is what we’ve seen with a lot of buyers who have been contacting us to join our Rent To Buy scheme in South Wales.

The reaction from property vendors and buyers in Wales towards our Rent To Buy and Rent To Sell schemes has been extremely positive so the more we can do to highlight the benefits to both sellers and buyers, the better.

Under the new Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee Scheme likely to be introduced in conjunction with house builders, the government will underwrite a percentage on each loan of newly built property meaning buyers will not have to raise as much towards a deposit, currently around 20% or £26,000. They would be able to get more mortgages at up to 95% loan to value at lower rates; the Council of Mortgage Lenders backs the idea.

Mark: “This is an excellent idea to help the housing industry especially for first time buyers to get on to the housing ladder and a really positive step for the economy and jobs as a whole”.
